After getting my business operating well, I decided to expand.  That meant getting away from the everyday operations to work on forward planning for growth.  I needed to hire someone to cover some of my regular duties – and that’s where I slipped up.

Hiring employees based on price rather than experience can be a false economy and that’s exactly how it turned out for my business.  My employee, although great for the wage bill, simply didn’t have the experience required to work in the business without a lot of supervision.  That, in turn, dragged me away from working on the business to spend too much time back in the business.

My fault entirely – I put a square peg in a round hole and it cost me both time and money.  Don’t you make the same mistake.
